All-day eatery with panoramic Med views
2018, Dic 10th
On a sunny winter day, if you’ve a yearning for sea views when you eat out, Restaurante mÁxime is the perfect spot. Find this independently run restaurant and café on the top floor of the clubhouse of Vall d’Or Golf – but you don’t have to be a club member or even play golf to eat here.
You can eat indoors in the spacious smart dining room but, in fine weather, it’s hard to resist a table on the huge terrace – where the panoramic views down over the golf greens extend to the coastline and include the picturesque Portocolom.
The cuisine of chef/patron Máxime Deymier is influenced by his previous international career: he’s worked in London, Paris, San Sebastian, and St Martin. Expect Asian influences in his dishes, which feature fresh produce from his family’s finca.
MÁxime is open all day with an extensive à la carte menu which includes snacks suitable for hungry golfers, as well as salads, pastas, fish, and meat dishes. A great option is to come for the weekly-changing set menu, available seven days a week from 13:00 h to 17:00 h. You’ll pay a good-value price of 19,50 € (without drinks but including bread, olives, aioli, and vegetable crudités).
The set menu offers a choice of three starters, three mains, and two desserts. On my visit, I had a zingy starter of tartar of tuna with avocado, beetroot, lime and tender sprouts; main course of meltingly tender Indian-style lamb stew with basmati rice and Dukkah spices, and a refreshing light Greek yogurt mousse with pineapple.
The kitchen closes at 20:30 h so dinner at mÁxime has to be an early one. On the other hand, the restaurant has the benefit of being open every single day of the year – except Christmas Day.
