Vive la France in Santa Catalina

The Santa Catalina restaurant Smack Mallorca opened in April this year, as the realisation of a dream for a foodie couple – who moved from Paris to open their own restaurant here.

In Paris, Hélène Huret was a gastronomy journalist who took inspiration from chefs she met, to create her own delicious recipes. Stéphan begun his career in a former Michelin three-star restaurant. These charming hosts serve the inspired dishes prepared to Hélène’s recipes by their French chef. Fresh vegetables are the stars here and meat and fish play supporting roles.


This is the restaurant to eat something different and healthy too: dishes include whole roasted cauliflower with tahini and sauce vierge; feta, watermelon, and olive salad; an unusual but delicious tomato tart, and grilled octopus with tomatoes, pomegranate, and couscous. For a naughty treat, order a side of delicious home-made French fries – but do save room for a dessert! The small wine list includes Mallorcan and organic wines and a few from France.


Located in Santa Catalina’s street of restaurants – C/ Fábrica – Smack Mallorca has an appealing interior décor with plenty of French flair and terrace tables where you can soak up the ambience of this pedestrianised street.


Smack Mallorca is one of the few restaurants on the island where you can take home the recipes for some of the dishes you eat.  Hélène Huret’s recipe book is on sale here – but it is in French only.


Smack Mallorca is open for dinner only during these hottest months, from 6 o’clock to 11.45 pm Tuesday to Sunday.
