Musical Mallorca

Whatever your favourite genre of music, you’re sure to find a concert somewhere in Mallorca in this sizzling summer month of fiestas and festivals.
Classical music is on offer at the Festival Pollença, which celebrates its 65th edition this year and offers several concerts in August. On Wednesday, 19th the South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho – acknowledged as one of the leading pianists of his generation – will play a programme including music from Bach, Schönberg, and Schumann. The Festival Pollença concerts take place in the town’s atmospheric Cloister of Sant Domingo.
Jazz fans can enjoy the Thursday evening concerts of the Palma Jazz Festival this month at Bellver Castle. Meanwhile, the Mallorca Jazz Sa Pobla is in full swing in the town until August 20th. This 32nd edition commemorates the centenary of the legendary Miles Davis.
For music with an unbeatable view of Palma, head to the 5-star Castillo Hotel Son Vida, where its large terrace is the setting for ‘Sunset Sounds’. Jazz, blues, and acoustic music are performed there on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday evenings from 19:30h to 21:30h. You don’t have to be a hotel guest to enjoy these free music sessions but if you’d like to eat in one of the restaurants there, we recommend reserving a table.
And for pop, rock, and more, check out what’s on offer at Es Jardí in Calvià municipality.
